A15 Folkingham

We live on the A15 in Folkingham and over the last 15 years there has been no attention given to this section of the road, apart from repeatedly filling in potholes over and over again, despite the fact that the A15 is a key north - south trunk route. We have witnessed a large increase in the number of HGVs with heavy trailers, tractors and farm equipment as well as other traffic. Frequent A1 closures, due to numerous accidents and other events, leads to even more traffic using the A15 as a diversionary route. The road surface has many large cracks and is very uneven leading to large volumes of surface water collecting which is unable to drain away because the drains are higher than the road surface. Consequently pedestrians cannot use the pavement safely due heavy spray from traffic (most of which completely ignores the 30mph speed limit). The most annoying aspect for us and other residents is the intolerable noise nuisance. This is generated by HGVs, quarry lorries, other lorries and farm vehicles with empty trailers as they pass over the uneven service caused by potholes, surface cracking, and numerous poorly maintained utility trenches. This is intrusive at all times but especially during the night and makes sleeping difficult. It seems to us that there is no appreciation that these problems have a negative effect on the well-being of residents living close to the road. These issues should be seriously considered when prioratising this road for resurfacing which is long overdue.
