Mrs Bee

We live at the end of a single track lane (it's a dead end); a ditch runs along the length of it. In the last 18 months, three vehicles have gone completely off the road and into the ditch, damaging the road surface on the ditch side. This was reported to Lincs Highways in 2022; their response was to (finally, in 2023) send workmen to build up the earth at the edge of the road, but did nothing with the asphalt, which is in such poor condition I can pick it off the road with my bare hands.

I've reported a deterioration in the road using FixMyStreet and the result came back "no further work needed". Since then MORE vehicles have gone off the edge of the road, but not fully into the ditch, causing even more damage. The lane has now been eroded in three places and is dipping in towards the ditch; I now have to drive my car so close to the hedge on the other side of the road that the branches are damaging my car! I've reported again and FixMyStreet now says status: investigating. I've emailed my local councillor twice and left a voicemail message for him and had no response.

Vehicles which are far too large for the lane drive down it, and have partially gone off the road, damaging the edge of the lane. I am worried that the lane will become impassable, which will mean that neither we, nor our neighbours will be able to get out of the house by car. There's only one way out, so we'll be stuck. No one is taking my concerns seriously and I am fed up with it. We need a sign at the end of the road restricting vehicles which are in excess of a certain weight and length from coming down it.

We've already had two delivery drivers (whose vehicles were small enough to come down the road) refuse to deliver to us; I had to drive up to the A16 and collect a large, heavy delivery in the back of my car from a lay-by. We're reliant on heating oil deliveries and need to have a cesspit drained - if either company refuses to come to the house because of the state of the road, we're stuck.

If my car goes into the ditch because the road collapses, I will sue you - I am sick of this.
