Fire and Rescue response time reporting

Engagement has concluded

The engagement has ended. Thank you for taking part. We will continue to use this page to keep you informed about progress with the project.

Links to the consultation report and committee meeting are in the 'important links' section.

The report to scrutiny committee on 21 March 2023 showed that average response times were under 9 minutes, against the 11 minute target.

Parking issues were also raised, but no delays were caused in the reporting period. The ACFO confirmed social media and localised leaflet drops are used when there is a problem.

This is what we asked you.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is proposing to simplify the way we measure incident response performance, known as attendance times, to match how the Government reports it.

We currently use this ‘standard’ to report performance:

  • The first appliance will attend all dwelling fires across the county within the expected timeframes (see below) on 100% of occasions
  • The second appliance will attend all dwelling fires across the county within 25 minutes on 100% of occasions
  • The first appliance will attend all road traffic collisions across the county within the expected timeframes (see below) on 100% of occasions

The expected timeframes are based on maps that predict 10-, 15- and 20-minute response times for all our appliances.

We'd like to change the standard to make it easier to understand and to bring it in line with the way the Government reports attendance times. The proposed standard is:

  • The first appliance will attend all dwelling fires across the county within an average of 11 minutes
  • The first appliance will attend all other incidents across the county within an average of 15 minutes

This is just a change to how we report performance against the time taken to attend incidents, not how we respond. No change is proposed to the location or number of fire stations or appliances.

This survey has closed. Thanks for your responses.

There are just two questions about the change and a selection of additional questions about you that you can choose to answer if you wish.

The survey is intended to be anonymous. Please do not write anything that might identify you or someone else in your open text answers.

We will only use the collective responses to help with performance and decision making.
