In recent years more children have entered care nationally and in Lincolnshire too. Lincolnshire County Council funds and provides support to families to prevent children entering care, wherever possible, and it must prioritise funding services that have the best outcomes.
The current contract for the Lincolnshire Edge of Care Service (often called Safe Families) is due to end on 30 June 2026. We’re reviewing its future and want your views.
This volunteer-based service provides early intervention support for families whose children are at risk of entering the care of the Local Authority. Support includes befriending, mentoring, parenting advice, practical help at home and day-time care or time-limited overnight stays for children and young people.
We would like your thoughts on whether we should:
continue funding for an Edge of Care Service
reduce funding for an Edge of Care Service
or end funding for an Edge of Care Service
You can have your say by completing our public survey, which is open to everyone. If you work with or support the Edge of Care Service (Safe Families), we’d also like you to complete our stakeholder survey to provide your professional perspective.
Once the consultation closes, all feedback will be carefully considered before deciding the future of this service.
