Heckington and East Heckington

Issues in Heckington and East Heckington

Our Parish has a great many outstanding issues on both roads and pavements – some have been reported many times by residents directly to Highways, or via the Parish Council offices. Judging by the age of some reports, it would certainly suggest that juggling the few funds that are available results in some works being pushed further down the line. When there is a major accident on the A17, our village is the used as the main diversionary route and there are concerns that the current road surfaces will not be able to withstand an increase in traffic, however temporary.

While in some ways it is understandable, it is also extremely frustrating for residents to have to cope with poor states of road surfaces and pavements. We are a village with many elderly mobility scooter users and quite often have reports of tumbles and bumps down potholes. Godson Avenue has been promised a total resurface many months ago, as were the pavements on Kyme Road, High Street – to name but a few. Cyclists are also reporting hazardous conditions on some of the road outside of the village. I attach a photo of the road surface in St Andrews Street as an example. I have been reporting a resurfacing need for nearly 4 years now.

East Heckington has the A17 running through and there are still many potholes on this very main road with outstanding action required (eg Side Bar Lane junction and the road edgings near to Abby Park Farm Shop and garages)
