    Thank you for your question.

We understand that not everyone has access to transport, which can make it challenging to donate paint to the Community RePaint scheme.

Your comments will be included in the final engagement report and carefully considered by the Senior Management Team for Waste Services as part of planning future improvements. Your input is invaluable in helping us shape services that work for everyone.

  • Share I cannot access your Household waste recycling centres because my vehicle, which is a private vehicle - not business, is over-height for your barriers (not the rest of the site, just the barriers). I am not a person given to fly-tipping and I only put into wheelie bins what I'm supposed to put in. I am currently having to hire a van once or twice a year, to be able to visit the recycling centre. This is inconvenient and very expensive, particularly when I already contribute through Council Tax to the recycling centre. Please could I be allowed, through the barrier being swung out of the way by your attendants, back onto the site. I am sure they could verify I am a private citizen and not a business intent on flouting the rules. My vehicle is an older style Land-Rover which is several inches higher than the barrier. Alternatively, could I be allowed into the site on foot, as was once the case. I am not a fool, I appreciate there are moving vehicles around the site, but everyone has to leave their vehicle to put the waste into the skips so, even now, you do have people walking around the site on foot. Please consider this, it is such an inconvenience not being allowed access. I have not completed the survey this time, because most of the questions cannot be answered by myself. We currently have one Reuse shop at Tattershall HWRC which has been open for approximately a year. Residents are able to drop off any unwanted items including furniture, tools, electricals, and many other items that are suitable for reuse which will then be placed in the shop for other residents to buy. The shop is open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 09:00 – 15:30.

We also have Community Repaint stores at all of our sites where residents and community groups can donate unwanted paint and take paint for free to use in their own projects. We have a number of smaller reuse and charity initiatives that we are working with and are looking at how these projects can be expanded soon.

    Thank you for your comment.

We are currently working with several smaller reuse and charity initiatives and exploring ways to expand these projects and include additional materials in the near future.

At present, all our sites have Community Repaint stores where residents and community groups can donate unwanted paint or collect paint free of charge for their own projects. In addition, we operate a Reuse Shop at the Tattershall HWRC, which has been open for around a year. We continue to monitor and review its performance to inform future plans.

Why when I have a safer caged trailer am I not allowed access yet someone with a overladen dangerous trailer is allowed in. Your rules are outdated, your staff are rude and badly trained and it is no wonder we see increases of fly tipping when your staff are not helpful in getting rid of everything you bring when if it is fly tipped you end up taking it anyway and at more cost because you have to collect it and clear it up. on Facebook Share Why is it that when there are cars out there that take up to 8 litres of oil do you limit drops to 5 litres and make me do more trips wasting fuel and causing more queues and congestion at the recycle centre. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. A key priority of our recycling centres is ensuring there is enough room for residents to effectively recycle their household waste. A number of measures are in place, including limiting the amount of engine oil we can accept, to encourage responsible recycling and deter people from tipping high volumes of industrial or trade waste that could overwhelm the sites.

Engine oil is classed as industrial waste, and we therefore limit the amount people can dispose each visit to a maximum of 10 litres a month. We will investigate why a 5 litre limit may have been applied in this instance.

As with engine oil, car parts are not legally considered household waste and should instead be taken to licenced vehicle dismantlers.

Caged trailers are not permitted as they can encourage large scale disposal, over and above what is usually required for household waste. This allows capacity at the sites to be managed appropriately so there is enough room for residents to recycle, whilst at the same time helping to prevent commercial or trade waste from being tipped. Larger or modified trailers can also be more difficult to manoeuvre around site and the stacking of large quantities of waste can create further health and safety issues.

Our team work hard to help residents process their household waste as effectively and efficiently as possible, and we are sorry to hear that you found some staff members unhelpful on this occasion.
