If you’re planning street works or road works, you’ll need a permit.
We’re consulting on the increase in fees that you’ll pay for permits because the operating costs of putting them in place have increased. Since the Lincolnshire Permit Scheme (LiPS) was launched in 2016 the price per permit has stayed static and up until recently, the incoming money matched the outgoing costs.
Those costs are continuing to rise and an increase in permit fees is proposed so that the scheme does not continue to run at a loss. In 2023/24 the scheme had a loss of £108,830.19. That rose as a bigger loss to £514,502.72 in 2024/25.
To cover the shortfall, LCC has previously used reserves and income from other activities, but this approach cannot continue.
To keep LiPS effective and sustainable for the future, we’re proposing an increase in permit fees. This will ensure the scheme continues to support well-coordinated and efficiently managed roadworks across Lincolnshire.
