This engagement is now closed, thank you for your contributions.

This is what we asked you.

Volunteers' Week is a celebration of the millions of volunteers across the UK.

As well as helping others, volunteering can:

  • improve your well-being
  • help you gain valuable new skills and experiences
  • boost your confidence

Thank you for sharing your stories with us about:

  • why you volunteer and what you enjoy
  • what difference volunteers make to your organisation

We support over 400 volunteers across 26 locations. They contribute with their commitment and drive.

These volunteers help us to deliver the highest quality of services. Without them many sites would not be able to operate to the standard that our residents and visitors expect.

We have some fantastic opportunities for you to get involved.

These opportunities allow you to:

  • do something you enjoy
  • meet new friends
  • gain experience
  • provide a real feeling of supporting your community

    Lincoln Castle Volunteers

by Madeleine, almost 2 years ago

At Lincoln Castle our team of lively, positive volunteers help turn our visitors' day out into a walk through 1000 years of history.

They meet and greet our visitors, helping and advising them at every stage of their visit, they clear tables in the café and keep our grounds in tip top condition.

We welcome hundreds of thousands over visitors to Lincoln Castle each year and we simply couldn't do it without our team of volunteers - thank you!

    Volunteering helped my career

by YestoVolunteering, almost 2 years ago

Whilst at college I decided to become a volunteer and expand my knowledge of the working world. I took on a role for my local parish council and helped with events such as carnivals, country shows and day to day workings of the council and it's members. This gave me the opportunity to build professional relationships, expand my local government knowledge and build my confidence. This led to me applying/accepting a permanent position at a district council and then a role within Lincolnshire County Council. I loved being a volunteer and met some amazing people who will always be in... Continue reading
