    Country Lanes

by sah, over 3 years ago

There seems to be an increase in heavy vehicles using country lanes particularly when bypassing issues on A17 or A1. So verges get damaged and potholes appear and reappear. Plus in our village’s case buildings and cars can get damaged when lorries discover it’s not suitable to transit through too late. When this has been raised with the Council we have been told that access cannot be restricted; however, for safety and to protect our rural road system I think we need to put restrictions in place. Prevention is generally cheaper than cure after all.

People complain about potholes. This is due to LCC's grant being cut by Central Government by over 49% over the last few years. A Tory Government who seek to operate a low tax economy, thereby 'leaving more money in your pocket'. Most of Lincolnshire vote Tory, so when they hit a pot hole and ruin their tyre/wheel /hub /car, they will at least have their pound as recompense.

    Lincolnshire council wasted pothole money

by Steve.Adamson, over 3 years ago
Lincolnshire county council wasted money doing unnecessary and ineffective road improvements, such as brant road junction in Lincoln, which actually made the road system worse. Id they weren't doing this sort of wasted work they could easily have afforded to fix the roads, instead of trying to blame central government

Many roads in Lincolnshire are without curbs or support along road edges, without any kind of drainage but are used by heavy lorries as “rat runs”. the road I live on has no pedestrian pavement, is a 60 mph limit but has many houses on it. Residents are forced to walk along the road to get to the bus stops, post boxes, local facilities. The weight of traffic of huge lorries delivering aggregate to a near by cement supplier leads to the side of the road breaking up with big dips, ruts and subsidence. I have reported many of these... Skegness Roads

by Old Ganian, over 3 years ago

The rapidy deteriorating condition of the major roads of Skegness (and the delays in repairing Roman Bank leading to the adjoining roads being overused and therefore crumbling) will have a long term effect as visitors to the resort will always take away a lasting picture of the state of these roads, their being the first and last things they will experience.

It is no longer possible to travel anywhere in Skegness without hitting a pothole or crumbing surface. This means that, as a resident of Burgh le Marsh, I no longer go into Skegness unless it is really necessary, my... Continue reading

    Rural rampage

by Dave.Manning, over 3 years ago
Many of the rural roads around Lincolnshire are in a terrible state. Potholes big enough to swallow cyclists hole, and some roads are bumpier than a topographic map of the Alps, and equally as dangerous.

Clearly, more money is needed to repair these roads, so how about Lincolnshire council spending less on road-lighting (which would aid in bringing the benefits that befit a 'dark sky area') or less on cutting the grass on verges, also hugely benefitting wildlife and biodiversity.

Fining agricultural businesses for covering public roads with mud sometimes several inches thick would also bring in revenue and also... Continue reading

Used by buses and countless other road users the work to repair potholes has only gone so far. The stretch between Linchfield Road and Hall Meadow road has cost me two tyres in the past year alone. With car dodging from one side of the road to the other it’s getting impossible to avoid some sort of accident. There are two many holes to report individually but please take a look before someone has a a serious accident.

The A607 from just before the level crossing to the junction with the A153 near Honington and the section from Fulbeck to Caythorpe and the bridge over the A17 at Leadenham. These section are full of potholes that having been steadily getting worse of the last few years .

Other sections have been repaired but these seem to be overlooked.

    rural roads

by MikeG, over 3 years ago
Many road around Lincolnshire are rural i.e. single carriageway. Many would think this means low traffic and normally it does. Rural roads normally don't have curbs or support along road edges, but are used by heavy tractors, heavy lorries collecting / delivering food stuff and very often used when main roads are closed for diverted traffic - naturally on all occasions all vehicles must in part go off road since the road isn't wide enough to pass. This leads to the side of the road breaking up with big dips and in poor conditions such dips (often more than wide... Continue reading

    Major roads Major Potholes

by PG, over 3 years ago
Yes we live in the countryside with very poor road infrastructure. The major roads are poorly maintained with most A roads having no dual carriageways, so you get on a major road and travel behind lorries that are travelling behind tractors so progress around Lincolnshire is generally slow.

Its amazing how Lincolnshire can claim poor funding when we see it poorly managed. I have recently seen this when reporting major potholes from Horncastle to Haltham. A full team were sent out to repair a series of holes on one side of the road - EXCELLENT RESPONSE. However one day... Continue reading
